The defending Desert Valley League co-champs look strong again as the Palm Springs High School softball team rolled past Xavier Prep on Friday.
The Indians needed just five innings to earn a 19-3 win. Ashley Ennis’ led the way with four hits and five RBIs. Raquel Harris also had two hits and four RBIs, while Davia Hines, Kayla Ayala, Alyssa Ayala, Cristina Moreno and Evelyn Arredondo each had two hits.
Sarah Martin struck out eight in the complete game victory for the Indians.
Palm Desert 18, Cathedral City 1: Sydney Sprinkle was 4 for 4 with three RBIs, a home run and three runs scored. Jamiana Gateb was 4 for 5 with four runs scored, three RBIs, three doubles and a triple. Carly Williams also had four hits. Karli Manney was 2 for 3 with three RBIs and three runs. Bayley Gonzalez was 3 for 3 and Emily Hagar was 2 for 5. Carly Williams pitched three perfect innings for the win.
Palm Desert (7-2, 2-0) will host Woodbridge High School of Irvine on Saturday in a doubleheader starting at 10 a.m.
Rattlers 11, Twentynine Palms 1: Freshman pitcher Porschea Miranda earned her third win on the season, going six innings and yielding just one earned run. The Rattlers racked up 19 hits in total. Jenna Murphy led the way offensively going 4-4, with three RBIs. Miranda went 4-4 at the plate and Natalie Avila and Christine Correa each had two RBIs.
The Rattlers (5-4, 3-0) play at Desert Mirage on Wednesday.
Palm Desert 13, La Quinta 0: In this battle of Desert Valley League baseball heavyweights, Palm Desert left little doubt who the top team is.
Jeremiah Estrada struck out 10 in five innings facing the minimum. At the plate, it was Johnny Cuevas and Izayah Alvarez with a home run each. Cuevas finished 3 for 4 with three RBIs and Alvarez 2 for 2 with three RBIs and four runs. Estrada had a big night at the plate, too, going 3 foro 4 with four RBIs. Sammy Diaz added two hits and an RBI.
Rancho Mirage 7, Twentynine Palms 2: Twentynine Palms jumped out to a 2-0 lead in a battle of undefeated De Anza League teams, but the Rattlers ran away with it after that. Rancho Mirage had nine hits in the win.
Henry Dougherty earned the win for the Rattlers, throwing five innings, giving up two runs, five hits and striking out nine.
Francisco Alarcon went 3 for 3 with two RBIs and a run. Ryan Rodriguez and Brandon Carrillo each collected multiple hits.
The Rattlers (4-1, 3-0) hosts a team from Oregon at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
