36. Gunnar Hoglund, Fivay HS (Hudson, Fla.), RHP, Pittsburgh Pirates
A Mississippi signee, Hoglund was 7-0 with a 0.27 ERA with a staggering 105/2 strikeout-to-walk ratio over 52.1 innings of work. A left-handed batter, he also hit .385 with four home runs. The 6-foot-4, 210-pound Hoglund told the Tampa Bay Times after the draft that his signing with the Pirates would only be a matter of time, but he has yet to ink a deal.
“It was a crazy process,” Hoglund told the Times on June 5. “They called to see if they could get something worked out and then we agreed to the deal. It was a long night.”
As of now, though, Hoglund still hasn’t signed. Additionally, reports are that he has attended orientation at Ole Miss.
MLB.com estimates that the No. 36 pick is worth $1,967,900.
