Location: Akron, Ohio
18-19 Record: 15-0
Final Super 25 Rank: 8
Why them: With four consecutive championships – two in Div. III and two in Div. II – Archbishop Hoban is becoming as dependable as any team in the country.
Everybody is still trying to figure out 2021 quarterback Shane Hamm, from opponents to scouts and even recruiting sites (247Sports lists him as a pro-style QB and Rivals as a dual-threat), but the one thing we do know is this kid does not get fazed. He had four touchdowns in the first half of the Div. II state championship game against Washington High of Massillon.
The team will have to find a new offensive guard after losing ALL-USA Second Team selection, Nolan Rumler, who signed with Michigan. But with three of the top 20 Ohio players in the 2020 class (No. 5 running back DeaMonte Trayanum, No. 12 tight end Caden Clark, No. 18 linebacker Devin Hightower), the Knights look set to push for their fifth straight championship, which would tie Saint Ignatius for most in state history.
