From direct to passive to desperate, Word of God Christian Academy (Raleigh, North Carolina) forward Isaiah Todd  has heard every recruiting pitch from college coaches imaginable over the last few years.

The one constant message among coaches in his final five (Kentucky, North Carolina, Kansas, Memphis and Michigan) is also the most cliché.

“All of the coaches have told me I’m a priority in the class,” said Todd, ranked No. 7 in USA Today Sports’ Chosen 25 for 2020. “It’s humbling to me to hear that.”

On Monday, on the first day the NCAA permits college coaches to come out and visit with recruits at open gyms and during in-homes, Kentucky made a beeline to Raleigh to see the 6-foot-10 forward.

“It definitely showed me that they really want me and made me feel special,” Todd said. “To come to me on the first day was big. Not to say that if the other schools didn’t come today that they don’t feel the same way. It was just cool to see them.”

Todd met with Kentucky assistant Joel Justus and rehashed their plans for him in Lexington.

“They see me as a guy who they can use in a lot of different ways on the floor,” Todd said. “I see myself the same way. I try to do some of everything. I don’t really have a position. I have a long way to go before I make a decision, but it was a great visit.”

Todd said he plans to take all five official visits “before making any decisions.”

First up is Michigan on Sept. 27-29.

Todd spoke with Wolverines assistant coach Saddi Washington Monday night. He’s still in the process of locking in dates for the final four visits.

“I’m ready to get to the campuses and see the place that I’d be calling home and get a feel for everything that comes with it,” Todd said. “Just trying to see what every school’s vision is for me if I were to come there. I really want to go into my visits open and giving everyone the same chance because I want my next move to be my best move.”
