The beat goes on for Michigan football.

Boston (Mass.) Milton Academy 4-star linebacker Kalel Mullings became the latest prospect to commit to the Wolverines, announcing his decision Thursday evening on his Twitter account.

Mullings is the ninth prospect to commit to Michigan since U-M’s big recruiting weekend took place June 21-23. The Wolverines hosted numerous top targets that weekend — the last before a month-long dead period — and saw their efforts pay off.

Listed at 6 feet 1, 220 pounds, Mullings is the nation’s No. 148 overall recruit, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. He’s the top-ranked prospect from Massachusetts and is the third recruit from the state to commit to the Wolverines, joining 4-star offensive guard Zak Zinter and 3-star athlete Eamonn Dennis.

Mullings has long been a target for Michigan and defensive coordinator Don Brown, who has significant recruiting ties to the northeast. The Wolverines were the first team to offer Mullings back in January of 2017 and remained present throughout his entire recruitment.

He held offers from Clemson, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Penn State and Stanford, among others.

Mullings is the eighth prospect to commit to Michigan following this past weekend, joining 3-star linebacker William Mohan, 3-star defensive end Aaron Lewis, 4-star safety Jordan Morant, 3-star offensive lineman Reece Atteberry, 3-star athlete Eamonn Dennis, 3-star offensive lineman Jeffrey Persi, 4-star receiver A.J. Henning and 4-star running back Blake Corum. The Wolverines also received a commitment from running back Gaige Garcia, who plans to both wrestle and play football in college.

Mullings is the 20th commitment in Michigan’s 2020 class, along with Mohan, Lewis, Morant, Atteberry, Garcia, Dennis, Persi, Henning, Corum, 4-star defensive end Braiden McGregor, 4-star corner Andre Seldon, 4-star offensive lineman Zak Zinter, 4-star linebacker Osman Savage, 4-star quarterback J.D. Johnson, 3-star linebacker Nikhai Hill-Green, 3-star linebacker Cornell Wheeler, 3-star tight end Nick Patterson, 3-star tackle Micah Mazzccua and 3-star tight end Matthew Hibner.
