Jaden Springer is ranked No. 13 overall in USA Today Sports’ Chosen 25 for 2020 and led IMG Academy (Bradenton, Fla.) to the GEICO Nationals title this past season. Now that he’s committed to Tennessee, Springer wanted to take to his blog to breakdown the reasons why.
What’s up world, it’s Jaden back at you with another blog!
Most of you know the big news by now: I’m officially committed to the University of Tennessee!
I chose to do it today because after talking to my family I felt like we’d come to the right decision.
I’d always said that it could be any day!
It was close because Memphis and Michigan were great choices too.
The thing that really tipped it for me was that it’s really a family atmosphere there at Tennessee. When I went on the visit everyone, the coaches, the players, the students, were all close and really looked out for one another. That always stood out to me.
Plus, it’s close to home and we know a lot of people there. It was the best decision for me and my family.
Coach (Rick) Barnes offered me before all of the other schools, the summer before my freshman year, but they never talked about being there from the beginning. He always just focused on what his plans were for me and how I could help them go to the next level.
It’s a big relief to have this out of the way; just not having to talk to all of the coaches all the time and things like that is great for me.
Now, I can put all of my focus on getting another national title in high school before I try and bring one back to Knoxville next year!

I feel like I can do both; we’ve got a great team and a great chance to win a national title this year again at IMG; then with my Keon (Johnson) and Corey (Walker) make a great class and I feel like we’re talented enough to get it done.
OK, I’ve gotta get going, but I wanted to give you guys a quick explanation about how I came to my decision.
I”ll get back to y’all soon.
