Jermaine Burton Jr. is one of the nation’s top wide receiver prospects. A 6-foot-1, 193-pound speedster from Calabasas (Calif.) High School with elite shiftiness, Burton holds scholarship offers from the likes of Alabama, Miami, Georgia, LSU, Tennessee and 15 other major programs. He’s also always been a likely invitee to The Opening Finals. If anything, that became even more of a fait accompli after his performance at The Opening Regionals.
That’s Burton completely pantsing an elite defensive back by crossing him up to get a step, exploding to the outside to create space and distance and then literally blowing a kiss to his now vanquished foe.
The bit of flair at the sign off speaks volumes about Burton’s supreme self-confidence and talent. It’s emblematic of his Odell Beckham-esque talent and impact on prep games. Heck, his Twitter handle is @dbassassin13. ‘Nuff said.
He’s made the journey from public school to IMG Academy and back again, and now is ready to show his ability to excel on the field as a senior … likely starting with plenty more dominant one-on-one performances at The Opening, the next time on a national stage.
