Result: Previous: 2. Haverford earned its third win over an MIAA opponent this week, beating Loyola Blakefield (Md.) 14-9. But the Fords’ key win to date was the season-opening victory over McDonogh, the only team to beat Gonzaga so far this season. With Culver Academy’s losses to Episcopal and later Gonzaga in overtime, Haverford rises to the top of the Super 25 rankings as America’s No. 1 scholastic squad. A daunting schedule gives the Fords ample opportunity to back up the billing.

Result: Previous: 5. Result: Closest win was a 51-48 defeat of St. Anthony’s (Jersey City), then the state’s No. 2-ranked team, as Isaiah Briscoe had 22 points.

McDonogh

Owings Mills, MD 3 - 1 - 0

Result: Previous: 4. McDonogh’s only loss so far came at the hands of new No. 1 Haverford, 9-8 in overtime. The Eagles this week earned a major win in the form of a 13-11 victory over Gonzaga (D.C.), leapfrogging McDonogh over the Purple Eagles. Thursday brings a high-profile matchup, as former No. 1 Culver Academy (Ind.) visits Baltimore. With St. Paul’s losing to Garden City (N.Y.), McDonogh appears to have separated itself from its MIAA peers for now.

Result: Previous: 10. Result: Jaylen Brown scored 25 points and had 12 points in a 72-65 defeat of then-No. 1 Montverde (Fla.) Academy in championship of City of Palms Classic (Fort Myers, Fla). Defeated then-No. 2 Wesleyan Christian 76-70 in City of Palms Classic semifinal. Lost 70-62 vs. West Linn, Ore., in Les Schwab Invitational in Hillsboro, Ore.

Gonzaga

Washington, DC 6 - 1 - 0

Result: Previous: 3. The Purple Eagles stay in their previous position by way of Culver Academy’s two losses, including Gonzaga’s own 8-7 overtime win against the Indiana powerhouse, and due to McDonogh handing the Purple Eagles their first loss of the season, 13-11. Gonzaga’s schedule cools off slightly before ramping back up next week with pair of IAC matchups and a clash with Northern California’s Saint Ignatius Prep.

Result: Previous: 1. Result: Won Les Schwab Invitational in Hillsboro, Ore., defeating West Linn 70-58 in the championship as Ben Simmons had 29 points, 11 rebounds and four blocks. Defeated then-No. 40 Trinity (Louisville) 52-42 in the semifinals of the City of Palms Classic as Simmons had 16 points. Lost 72-65 in finals of City of Palms to then-No. 10 Wheeler (Marietta).

Landon School

Gaithersburg, MD 5 - 0 - 0

Result: Previous: 7. The Bears are rolling so far this season, winning their games by more than an eight-goal margin. In the last week, Landon earned wins against John Carroll (Md.) and Calverton (Md.). The Bears face non-D.C. competition this weekend before diving back into Mid-Atlantic action.

Brunswick-Greenwich

Greenwich, CT 2 - 0 - 0

Result: Previous: 6. Brunswick kicked off the 2015 season down in Florida, beating reigning Oregon state champion West Linn, 17-5. The deep and talented Bruins turned around to defeat a strong Kent Denver (Colo.) team the next afternoon, 11-7. Brunswick returns home this weekend to take on Deerfield in the first big New England game of the season.

Result: Previous: 13. Result: Lorne Currie had 20 points and 12 rebounds in a 56-51 defeat of Redondo Union (Redondo) in division championship of Torrey Pines Tournament in San Diego.

Oak Hill Academy

Mouth of Wilson, VA 22 - 1 - 0

Result: Previous: 3. Results: Won Iolani Prep Classic in Honolulu, defeating then-No. 11 Bishop O’Dowd (Oakland) 58-48 in the championship as Terrence Phillips had 14 points. Lost 87-76 to then-No. 33 Hamilton (Memphis).

Episcopal Academy

Merion Station, PA 2 - 0 - 0

Result: Previous: NR. Episcopal Academy pulled off one 2015’s early upsets, defeating Culver Academy (Ind.) 8-7. The Churchmen have emerged as a contender to battle Haverford for the Inter-Ac crown this season. But Episcopal Academy will have a chance to prove itself via upcoming dates with McDonogh (Md.) and St. Anthony’s (N.Y.) before meeting the Fords April 7.

Culver

Culver, IN 4 - 2 - 0

Result: Previous: 1. The Eagles suffered an early-season setback, falling 8-7 to Episcopal Academy (Pa.). But Culver Academy rebounded in strong fashion by beating Penn Charter (13-2) before falling in overtime to Gonzaga, 8-7. Despite it being the second loss, it shows Culver is still among the nation’s toughest teams. In what should be one of the week’s best games, the Eagles take on No. 2 McDonogh Friday.

Result: Previous: 36. Result: Defeated then-No. 20 St. Benedict’s Prep (Newark) 63-57 in LeBron James Classic in Akron as Josh Williams had 28 points. Williams had 28 points in a 79-69 win vs. Mansfield.

Result: Previous: 8. The Winged Beavers opened up the season with a 10-3 win over Woodbury Forest (Va.). This weekend, Avon will face Calverton (Md.) and the Army Prep squad (N.Y.) before the New England schedule picks up.
