Boys Lacrosse Rankings
Victor, NY 7 - 0 - 0
Result: Previous: 2. The Blue Devils have won 29 consecutive games and have not been challenged much so far this season. Most recently Victor rolled past McQuaid Jesuit (N.Y.) and Fairport (N.Y.) to improve to 7-0. The schedule will pit Victor against some tough teams in the coming weeks. Victor is on the road against Canandaigua (N.Y.) April 28 and hosts Orchard Park (N.Y.) on April 30.
New Canaan, CT 9 - 0 - 0
Result: Previous: 3. The Rams are rolling, sitting at 9-0 thanks to three in-state wins in the previous week over the likes of Greenwich, St. Joseph-Trumbull and Staples. New Canaan downed Greenwich 8-6 and Staples 7-4 to earn hard-fought victories over rivals and remain unscathed in 2016. A major Super 25 matchup is on tap for April 30 when New Canaan travels to face No. 13 Darien (Conn.).
Washington, DC 14 - 2 - 0
Result: Previous: 4. After an impressive showing in its front-loaded schedule this season, the Purple Eagles have been taking care of business in recent weeks, including against D.C.-area competition. Last week Gonzaga took down Fordham Prep (N.Y.) 15-5 on April 23 and then routed St. Mary’s Ryken (Md.) 22-6 on April 25. Up next: a road trip to WCAC foe Bishop O’Connell (Va.) on April 28.
Potomac, MD 15 - 2 - 0
Result: Previous: 5. The Bulldogs continue their impressive campaign this season, most recently earning wins over rival Georgetown Prep (Md.), 14-4, and then cruising past Shaker (N.Y.), 15-4. Bullis, now with its best record in more than a decade, has an big league game in the coming week when the team hosts St. Stephen’s & St. Agnes (Va.) on April 29.
Owings Mills, MD 12 - 1 - 0
Result: Previous: 6. The Eagles earned a 15-10 win over MIAA ‘A’ Conference foe Mount St. Joseph (Md.) on April 22. Then McDonogh survived a double-overtime meeting with No. 9 Calvert Hall (Md.), earning a 9-8 win on Jack Parr’s big shot in the extra frame. McDonogh is at St. Mary’s of Annapolis on April 29 and then hosts No. 7 Boys’ Latin (Md.) on May 3 in what should be a great MIAA matchup.
Baltimore, MD 10 - 2 - 0
Result: Previous: 7. The Lakers are looking like one of several strong contenders in the MIAA ‘A’ Conference this season, still undefeated in league play thus far. Last week, Boys’ Latin survived against Severn (Md.) with an 8-7 win and then scored an 18-8 win over Mount St. Joseph (Md.) on April 26. The lakers have two big MIAA contests on deck for this week, both on the road: N0. 15 Loyola Blakefield on April 29 and No. 6 McDonogh on May 3.
Bradenton, FL 12 - 1 - 0
Result: Previous: 8. The Ascenders finished their season on April 16 with a 19-6 victory over Seton Hall Prep (N.J.). IMG’s lone loss of the year came in the Crossover Clash against No. 1-ranked Hill Academy (Ont.) on April 4.
Baltimore, MD 11 - 3 - 0
Result: Previous: 10. The Cardinals took down Gilman (Md.) 13-6 for a league win, but were then edged in a 9-8 double-overtime thriller by No. 6 McDonogh in a MIAA ‘A’ Conference showdown between two Super 25 squads. Calvert Hall, now boosted by the return of junior attackman Brendan Curry, will look to rebound on April 29 against Severn (Md.).
Culver, IN 11 - 3 - 0
Result: Previous: 11. After the loss to No. Hill Academy (Ont.) on April 17, the Eagles responded last week with a pair of victories in Tennessee as Culver easily defeated two of the state’s best teams, the McCallie School and Christian Brothers, by scores of 15-5 and 19-5, respectively. The Eagles host a trio of Mid-Western foes at home this week, starting with Forest Hill Central (Mich.) on April 29.
Greenwich, CT 9 - 2 - 0
Result: Previous: 14. The Bruins earned three wins in the previous week, running over Hotchkiss (Conn.) 14-3, doubling up No. 14 Haverford School (Pa.) 12-6 for a Super 25 victory and then closing it out with a 14-9 win over a strong Ridgefield (Conn.) team. Brunswick is at the Hun School (N.J.) on April 30 and then hosts Choate (Conn.) on May 4.
Deerfield, MA 7 - 1 - 0
Result: Previous: 15. The Big Green, responding to a tough week prior, earned wins over the Taft School (Conn.) and Loomis Chaffee (Conn.) in the previous seven days. Both wins were convincing, as Deerfield doubled up Taft 14-7 and then ran over the Pelicans 14-4. Deerfield hosts Phillips Andover (Mass.) on April 30.
Darien, CT 8 - 0 - 0
Result: Previous: 18. The Blue Waves continues to handle the opposition in convincing fashion. In the previous week, Darien earned one-sided wins over Wilton (Conn.) and St. Joseph-Trumbull (Conn.). Perhaps the most anticipated game of the year in New England takes place April 30 when Darien hosts No. 3 New Canaan in a Connecticut showdown. Both teams enter the contest undefeated.
Haverford, PA 12 - 4 - 0
Result: Previous: 12. The Fords had a busy schedule in the previous week, which included picking up three wins over Pennsylvania competition, including Inter-Ac foes Germantown Academy and Springisde Chestnut Hill. But the Fords were dealt a convincing 12-6 loss by No. 11 Brunswick School out of Connecticut. Haverford has its second game of the season against rival Malvern Prep (Pa.) on May 29 as the conference schedule moves along.
Towson, MD 6 - 4 - 0
Result: Previous: 9. Loyola Blakefield was dealt a 12-9 loss by league foe and a familiar face to the Super 25, St. Paul’s (Md.), on April 26. The Dons responded with a 9-8 win over a talented Severn team that has taken more than one Super 25 team to the brink this year. Loyola hosts No. 7 Boys’ Latin on April 29 in a key MIAA ‘A” Conference matchup.
Bridgewater, NJ 9 - 0 - 0
Result: Previous: 22. The Panthers have won 32 straight games stretching back to the beginning of 2015. Most recently, Bridgewater-Raritan survived an 8-7 win in a dogfight against Montgomery (N.J.). This week the Panthers are on the road to face Bronxville (N.Y.).
Gaithersburg, MD 13 - 3 - 0
Result: Previous: 13. The Bears grinded out an 8-5 win over St. Albans (D.C.) on April 21 and then defeated Lawrenceville (N.J.) on April 23. Landon is on the road to face rival Georgetown Prep (Md.) on April 29 and then takes on Virginia powerhouse Robinson on May 3.
Summit, NJ 8 - 0 - 0
Result: Previous: 23. The Hilltoppers continue to roll in 2016, most recently picking up three New Jersey victories by downing Chatham 6-5, Glen Rock 16-3 and then Seton Hall Prep 5-4 in the last week. Jim Davidson’s team looks to stay in the win column against Lincoln-Sudbury (Mass.) on April 30.
Morristown, NJ 7 - 1 - 0
Result: Previous: 24. The Green Wave scored a Super 25 win in the previous week, scrapping past No. 20 St. Anthony’s (N.Y.) 7-5 for Delbarton’s second big out-of-state win of the year. Next the Green Wave will travel to face Mountain Lakes (N.J.) on April 30.
Melville, NY 8 - 1 - 0
Result: Previous: 17. The Friars rolled over St. John the Baptist (N.Y.) 16-4 on April 21, but then ran into No. 19 Delbarton (N.J.) on April 23 and fell 7-5 in a low-scoring affair. St. Anthony’s will host a series of New York powerhouse programs in the coming week, including No. 22 Syosset on April 28 and Yorktown on April 30.
Cold Spring Harbor
Cold Spring Harbor, NY 8 - 0 - 0
Result: Previous: Unranked. The Seahawks scored a major win on Long Island in the previous week, taking down a highly-regarded Manhasset team, now ranked No. 24, by a score of 11-7. Cold Spring Harbor hasn’t lost since March 24, 2015, now on a 26-game win streak. Up next for the Seahawks is a road game at Huntington (N.Y.) on April 28.
Syosset, NY 9 - 1 - 0
Result: Previous: Unranked. With just the one-goal loss to No. 21 Cold Spring Harbor (N.Y.) on April 29 as the only blemish on its resume, the Braves return to the Super 25 after using overtime to defeat Shoreham-Wading River (N.Y.) 12-11 on April 21 and then easily defeating Plainview JFK (N.Y.) 15-2 on April 26. Syosset travels to No. 20 St. Anthony’s (N.Y.) on April 28 for a Super 25 matchup on Long Island.
Pawling, NY 5 - 1 - 0
Result: Previous: 25. The Pride had a clean week, earning two easy victories over the Westminster School (Conn.) and Northfield Mt. Hermon (Mass.) by a combined score of 31-2. Trinity-Pawling next faces the Berkshire School (Mass.) on the road April 30.
Manhasset, NY 8 - 2 - 0
Result: Previous: Unranked. The Indians have just two losses on their resume, both against current Super 25 teams, and are one of the team’s to watch on Long Island, despite a loss last week to No. 21 Cold Spring Harbor. Manhasset has a key game this week, traveling to rival Garden City (N.Y.) for an annual matchup, one that this year has Super 25 implications.
Bohemia, NY 11 - 0 - 0
Result: Previous: Unranked. The Thunderbirds grabbed a major win last week in continuing their unscathed run thus far in 2016, taking down Ward Melville 8-7 in overtime. Connetquot won its first 12 games last year and looks to match that effort on March 30 against Smithtown East (N.Y.) on the road.
